Dedication to Olde North Columbus Print E-mail

There is a responsibility that comes to someone when they decide to make Olde North Columbus their home. They might not know that the history of the past and future is at hand.

For this is not just any neighborhood, it is an economically and ethnically diverse community alive with creative, adventurous and interesting folks who choose to make Olde North Columbus their home.

This neighborhood goes back to the 1800s and it supports smaller quaint neighborhoods within its boundaries of rich history.

As residents of Olde North Columbus, we are given a gift - a gift of knowing that many brave folks took part in making a difference throughout past years in the growth of their neighborhood. From the building of magnificent churches, with unique architectural designs, to having the first stagecoaches riding through what we know as High Street rig outside this door.

Every day is an adventure in learning what Olde North Columbus had and has to offer. Our responsibility is to make sure that we preserve as much of the past history that we can for future generations, so they too can live, learn, share and enjoy the tree lined streets and cozy pockets, and knowing that bump outside their front door is not just something they trip over when not looking but was once actually a hitching post for horses back in the day.

As a community leader and long time resident of Olde North Columbus, I'm glad to be able to be a part of this community, and today's celebration for this end of our neighborhood becoming a historic district.

On behalf of the Olde North Columbus Community Collaborative, we want to thank Doreen, Pasquale and the many volunteer folks and hours that went into making this become a reality.

Thank you for showing Olde North Columbus the respect it deserves.
