Olde North Columbus has a rich hsitory, many places of interest, mini-parks, schools, small quaint side streets, homes, trees, stone walls, corners of alleys that turn into flourishing gardens in the spring and more that we can conserve. The creative look of our neighborhood, with its variety of architecture and use of imagination beckons to be preserved for future generations to enjoy. The concept of conservation neighborhood started in the 1970s. It is always community driven. As of today, about eighteen cities in the U.S. have conservation neighborhoods. Some examples are in: Atlanta, GA, Boston, MA, Cambridge, MA, Memphis, TN, Omaha, NB, Phoenix, AZ and Raleigh, NC. This process encourages community pride. It can assist in stablizing poperty values. All are important to better quaility of life. A conservation neighborhood would mean that we could conserve these unique areas that make Olde North Columbus special. We do not want others to impose strict regulations, like telling our homeowners what color to paint their homes. A Historic District is not for us. But we do have the right fit fo a conservation neighborhood. Historic Districts and landmark buildings on the local or national registry are not eligible to be a part of the conservation. These landmarks are all part of what makes our neighborhood unique, but what we are seeking to conserve are those special things we want to save in order for us to share them with generations of residents and visitors alike. The difference between a conservation neighborhood and historic district are: Conservation Neighborhood

| - Administratively are approved on a daily basis for the majority of cases
